Alpha to Omega Learning Centre was started in January 1988 to help students with Specific Learning Disability and other related disorders. Our objective is to help students complete their schooling and develop an all round personality.

We, at the Centre, follow several methods of instructions like the multi-sensory, cumulative and phonic based instruction, the Learning Strategies Intervention Model and Feuerstein’s Instrumental Enrichment (FIE) program.

    What is Specific Learning Disability?

Specific Learning Disability (SLD) is often known as the 'hidden handicap'. Parents may not notice it in their children until it is too late. Individuals, both children and young adults are frequently seen as lazy or unmotivated when they are not able to learn easily in their environment. These difficulties are often due to SLD.

Learning Disabled children fall under a broad spectrum of those who perform poorly in school. The reason why they fail to achieve is varied. If a student is unable to cope in class, he/she can be turned around with appropriate teaching tactics. The Center's mission is to unearth their hidden potential and empower them.

Teaching to meet the various learning styles is the role of a trained remedial instructor. This can be achieved by understanding the difficulties faced by an underachiever. Dedicated, service oriented individuals can learn the different teaching methodologies to meet the needs of the "under achievers".

Welcome! The 2nd South Asia International Workshops introduce educators, psychologists and other specialists to the theory and practice of Structural Cognitive Modifiability (SCM) and Mediated Learning Experience (MLE) developed by Prof. Reuven Feuerstein.

Prof. Feuerstein's theory states that learning ability can be significantly enhanced, regardless of age, nature, cause or severity of condition. Clinical observations over decades have shown that the development of thinking processes is highly dependent on the nature and quality of the interaction within which selected stimuli are mediated by parents, educators and others. Note: All workshops incorporate an introduction or review of the theories of Structural Cognitive Modifiability and Mediated Learning Experience.

    ►Mediated Learning Experience for Parents

    • Participants will receive the MLE manual for parents.

    Learning Potential Assessment Device (LPAD)

The LPAD is a system of dynamic assessment of cognitive modifiability, structured as a mediational interaction. Its primary goal is to produce a sample of change in the cognitive structure of the individual to serve as an indicator of the individual’s learning potential and point out the optimal modes of necessary intervention.

LPAD can be applied as an individual clinical technique and with groups of children, adolescents and adults with diverse levels of functioning and differing etiological conditions.

This course is intended for professionals in the following fields: psychology, education, speech and occupational therapy, and other clinical areas.

    • Previous study of IE is expected. Exceptions may be made for professionals with previous assessment experience.
    • Applicants are encouraged to read in advance the theoretical material available on

Cognitive Intervention Programs via Instrumental Enrichment (IE)

Cognitive intervention via IE programs is designed to modify the cognitive structure of students in classrooms and individually with diverse populations ranging from retarded performers to gifted underachievers and adult populations in industrial settings and continuing education.

The programs aim at correcting deficient cognitive functions and enhancing the individual’s capacity to learn more effectively from direct exposure in formal as well as informal learning situations.

Graduates of the workshop will receive Certificate of IE Workshop Participation.

If you wish to apply the FIE program professionally (in educational, clinical or vocational training settings) you should receive ICELP accreditation as an "IE Practitioner".

Prerequisites for receiving "IE Practitioner" accreditation include:

Professional degree or certification in education (including vocational training), psychology or clinical field (medicine, occupational therapy, speech therapy, etc.)

Mastery of the relevant aspects of the theory, IE instruments, and the didactics of their application as demonstrated during the final workshop exam and submission of the IE implementation portfolio.

Once every 6 years the "IE Practitioner" should resubmit his/her credentials for re-accreditation from ICELP. The credentials include a "IE Practitioner" diploma for all 14 IE Instruments and evidence (reports, articles, video, etc.) of active implementation of FIE in educational, vocational, or/and clinical settings.
